First and foremost, I would like to welcome you all to Ethiopia on behalf of The Ethiopian Textile and Garment Manufacturing Association and myself. It is a great pleasure and honour to have you all in Addis Ababa, the capital of Africa.
The government, private sector and development partners are working hand in hand in a planned fashion and are committed to achieve the goal of being the textile and garment hub of Africa.
Ethiopia with 100 million people where 60% is a young force and with green infrastructure like hydropower, stable government and market access to USA, Europe, Canada, Australia and others makes it a good destination of investment. Africans should work now complementing to one another and not competing to one another. The opportunities are massive
The green Industrial Parks built with all social and environmental world class standards fulfilled are typical examples of future development in the African textile and garment industry. The Hawassa, Makelle and Kombolcha Industrial Parks are vivid parks with such standards. More Parks are coming within months.
Ethiopian government and its private sector are learning faster still to fill the remaining gaps. Recognizing the critical role the manufacturing would play for the development of country, we are more than ready to accept all investments in the sector. Investing in Africa on top of its profitability is also stabilizing Africa and the whole world.
